SHAH ALAM - Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor has expressed her gratitude after receiving an outpouring of support and offers of financial assistance from friends, including those overseas, following the latest developments involving her husband, former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Rosmah said friends from Brunei, Italy, Singapore and Canada had contacted her to express their happiness over the latest development involving Najib, while also offering to contribute towards his situation.
“They just want to see Datuk back with his family. That is all. I never expected so many people would still care and be willing to come forward to help with such sincerity.
“Today, I realise who the friends are who have always stood by us through thick and thin,” she said in a Facebook post on Sunday.
The comments came after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim granted Najib a conditional pardon on Friday, allowing him to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028, subject to the payment of a RM50 million fine.
The Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister's Department (BHEUU, JPM) said the decision was made following Sultan Ibrahim's consent as chairman of the Federal Territories Pardons Board meeting.
Under the conditions, Najib must comply with all requirements imposed under the conditional pardon.
Failure to comply with any of the conditions would result in the conditional pardon being revoked, requiring him to immediately serve the remainder of his sentence in prison.
Rosmah also expressed her appreciation to everyone who had offered prayers, affection and support to her family during the latest developments.
“Alhamdulillah, thank you once again for all your prayers, love and sincerity,” she said.
The latest development has also triggered public fundraising efforts, with supporters seeking to raise the RM50 million fine required under the conditions of Najib's pardon before the house arrest arrangement can take effect.
