Following the Red Giants' victory in the Selangor Sultan Cup on Saturday, Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) owner Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim appeared to make fun of Selangor FC.

Tunku Ismail said the trophy is not recognized in this country and that the victory was a ‘kes kronik syok sendiri’.

"The FA Cup, Malaysia Cup, Super League, and AFC Contribution Cup are the official trophies in Malaysia to earn a spot in international competitions, such as the FA Cup and Super League.

"I'll make the Daddy Cup and the Milk Cap Cup starting next year if creating a ‘syok sendiri’ cup and celebrating it like winning an official cup is a thing. The other team needs to be weak. The absence of a sense of shame is peculiar. Kes kronik syok sendiri,” said TMJ.

Pilihan Selangor defeated Pilihan Singapore 2-1 at Merdeka Stadium last Saturday, effectively defending the Sultan of Selangor Cup.

TMJ came out with a very spicy statement, as reported by Sinar Harian when he was said to be satirizing the rival club, Selangor.

Earlier, TMJ also came forward to question if the Selangor Sultan Cup tournament was recognized by the International Football Federation (FIFA) before wanting to participate.

"Does FIFA recognize this trophy? If you recognize that you want to join," he commented on the matter and received many responses from other netizens.

According to TMJ, Malaysian football only recognizes the Super League, FA Cup, Malaysia Cup, and Shield Cup, as well as also listing the qualifications for the international stage involving the Super League and FA Cup only.

According to Semuanya Bola, it is well known that Nidzam Jamil's squad had just finished the Selangor Sultan Cup tournament held at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.

In the competition, Selangor managed to defend their championship since 2018 to overcome the Singapore Selection through a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Ronnie Fernandez and Alvin Fortes.

This also makes Selangor the team that has won the tournament the most when they have recorded the championship 11 times since it was established in 2001.

So far, the Red Giants have already won three championships since pre-season and this is the best momentum before they face the defending champions, JDT, in the FA Cup final.

The action that will take place this Saturday at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium (SNBJ) is expected to be intense as both teams are now in convincing form.
