The 18-year-old girl who went missing in Penang on June 28 has broken her silence via a Facebook post, telling her family to let her go as she has no intention of returning home for the time being.
Hu Yi En claimed that she is safe and insisted she does not need any help. However, she did not disclose her location and stated that she has no plans to do so.
In a lengthy Facebook post accompanied by a short video, Yi En expressed that she has not been happy at home for a long time, citing frequent scoldings from her mother.
“Not every house is a home, and I’ve accepted that you don’t love me”
Yi En claimed that as a child, she endured many harsh words from her mother, especially when she made mistakes.
“Remember what you said to me when I was only 10? You said I couldn’t get anything right and that I should’ve just dropped dead.”
“You said it was something you said out of anger, but I will always remember it. I still can’t understand what I did to deserve those words,” she shared.
She also said she was not allowed to use a mobile phone, and her resentment grew when her younger brother was given access to one. She added that when she was 17, she wanted to go out with friends but was grounded by her mother and not allowed to leave the house.
Yi En urged her family to “let her go,” saying she no longer wanted to hear about how much money had been spent on her, which made her feel like a financial burden.
“I’m 18 now. Let me go, and you don’t need to spend a dime on me anymore.”
Her mother had previously lodged a police report, fearing that Yi En may have fallen victim to a job scam syndicate in Cambodia.
