To accelerate economic growth, Chandigarh Chief Secretary H Rajesh Prasad on Monday directed the Department of Industries to recognise 150 startups over the next three months and put in place a mechanism to disburse grants.

The orders were issued during a meeting held to review the performance of the department in the 2025-26 fiscal.

With an aim to give boost to the sector, Prasad directed the department to effectively immediately implement the Chandigarh Startup Policy, 2025.

During the meeting, it was informed that the department was presently supporting more than 65,000 Udyam-registered MSMEs in Chandigarh through different policy interventions.

The Chief Secretary stressed on reducing the turnaround time (TAT) for establishing and operationalising businesses in Chandigarh.

‘Create cetralised system’

He directed the department to work towards the creation of a central digital repository and streamline the process for the issuance of no-objection certificates and regulatory approvals for faster clearances.

Reviewing the status of payment disputes under the Micro and Small Enterprises Facilitation Council, Prasad directed to expedite the disposal of pending cases and ensure timely resolution of grievances.

‘Priortise interest subvention’

It was informed during the meeting that 105 cases have already been resolved during the current financial year.

The Chandigarh Chief Secretary advised the department to prioritise implementation of interest subvention schemes under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Programme so that financial relief and support reach the units at the grassroots level and help strengthen their day-to-day business operations.

The department told Prasad that immediate steps were being initiated for effective implementation of the directions. The meeting was attended by Nishant Kumar Yadav, Secretary Industries; Pradhuman Singh, Director (Industries), and other senior officers.
