Trade minister Chris Bryant has not ruled out government plans for a bank holiday if England win the World Cup, admitting “it’ll be difficult to get anyone into work”.
England advanced to the semi-finals of the competition after a 2-1 win over Norway and will face Argentina on Wednesday for a place in the final.
Asked whether a bank holiday would be on the cards, Bryant told Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips: “It’s not for me to decide whether there should be a bank holiday,” adding: “I think it’ll be quite difficult to get anyone into work for a while.”
