INSPECTOR-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail has urged officers and personnel of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to remain guided by three key strategic priorities in carrying out their duties throughout 2026, as part of efforts to ensure the continued security and stability of the nation.
In his New Year 2026 message, Mohd Khalid said the three focus areas are the optimisation of modern artificial intelligence technology in law enforcement operations, the strengthening of professionalism and integrity among personnel as a safeguard against corruption and abuse of power, and the prioritisation of public welfare.
He said the well-being of both the community and police personnel would continue to be a central concern, in line with the value of compassion under the Malaysia MADANI principles, which emphasise responsibility and empathy through attention to welfare at every level of society for the collective good.
“Besides that, the welfare of the community and members of the force will continue to be a priority in line with the value of compassion in the Malaysia MADANI principles, which emphasise responsibility and empathy by focusing on welfare aspects across all segments of society for the common good,” he said.
“I hope the beginning of this new year will serve as a key catalyst to renew our collective commitment and resolve, and further strengthen our struggle with full dedication in defending the sovereignty of the nation,” he added.
Reflecting on the achievements of PDRM in 2025, Mohd Khalid said the year saw numerous significant events that tested the force’s preparedness and resilience in maintaining public order and national security, including the handling of high-profile international engagements.
He said the successful organisation of the Asia International Security Summit and Expo 2025 and the PDRM Special Dialogue demonstrated the force’s strong commitment to enhancing collaborative networks and sharing best practices with international security agencies, while also strengthening its capacity to address global security threats.
Mohd Khalid also highlighted the successful security operations during the 47th ASEAN Summit in October, which brought together major world leaders, including the President of the United States. He said the smooth conduct of the summit reflected the professionalism and credibility of PDRM on the global stage.
At the same time, he reaffirmed that PDRM remains firmly committed to ensuring that all investigations are conducted transparently, fairly and prudently, without compromise or interference from vested interests.
“This is a manifestation of PDRM’s determination to uphold the truth, reject sceptical perceptions, and ensure excellent performance through efficient and effective investigations and case resolutions,” he said. - January 1, 2026
