In a recent development, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad's faced investigation on his statement regarding the loyalty of Malaysian Indians to the country. The statement in question claimed that Malaysian Indians were not entirely loyal to Malaysia, sparking controversy and a series of heated exchanges between Dr. Mahathir and various leaders, including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The investigation process involved recording Dr. Mahathir's statement, and Razarudin assured the public that the police were diligently carrying out their duties without bias. He refuted Dr. Mahathir's claim that he was being treated like a common criminal for expressing his opinions, emphasizing the necessity to complete the investigation to maintain impartiality.

"We have already recorded Tun Dr. Mahathir’s statement yesterday, and the investigation is ongoing. In the next few days, the investigation paper is likely to be referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) after our investigation is complete," stated Razarudin during a press conference in Johor Bahru.

Addressing Dr. Mahathir's assertion that he had his statements recorded multiple times over the past few years, Razarudin clarified that the police conducted the interviews at Bukit Aman and other suitable locations as per Dr. Mahathir's request. The investigation sought to examine Dr. Mahathir's comments on issues related to religion, race, and royalty, which have been a consistent source of contention.

The ongoing verbal sparring between Dr. Mahathir and various leaders has added fuel to the fire. Dr. Mahathir, in defending his right to express his opinions, had accused the authorities of treating him unfairly. However, Razarudin maintained that the police were obligated to complete the investigation to avoid any perception of bias.

"We have to complete our investigation, or else we will be seen as biased. When we recorded his statements, we did it at Bukit Aman and other suitable places as per his request," Razarudin explained.

The controversy erupted when Dr. Mahathir asserted that the Indian community in Malaysia was not entirely loyal to the country and was still tied to their country of origin. This prompted strong reactions from leaders, especially Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who engaged in a war of words with the former Prime Minister.
