Kota Kinabalu: A company charged with seven counts of using logging machineries which were not registered with the Forest Conservator Chief (FCC), will go trial on Aug 25-26, and Sept 21, 22 and 23 this year.
Sessions Court Judge Ummu Khaltom Abd Samad set the date for Maxland Sdn Bhd. A representative appeared for the company.
On the first to seventh counts, the company as logging contractor, is accused of using seven logging machineries which were not registered with the FCC for logging purpose.
The offence allegedly took place at noon on Aug 24, 2018 at stumping area FMU 5, Aneka Desiran in Trusmadi Forest Reserve, Ranau.
The offence, under Section 20B(1) of the Forest Rules 1969 and punishable under Section 20B(9)(1) of the same Rules, provides for a jail term of up to 12 months and fine on conviction.
The company through its representative, had on March 5, 2021, pleaded not guilty to all the charges against the company.
Counsel Ronny Cham defended the company.
Meanwhile, a 30-year-old man claimed trial to causing grievous hurt to his sister.
Mohamad Firdaus Arbi made the plea before Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus, when the charge was read to him.
During the proceedings, the prosecution informed the court that the medical report was ready.
Firdaus is accused of causing grievous hurt on Jumat Arbi, 51, with a knife at 6.30pm on March 8, this year at a house in Kg Pasir Putih, Putatan.
The offence, under Section 326 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of up to 20 years and liable to a fine and whipping, on conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Tham Pou Jin appeared for the prosecution while Firdaus who was under remand, was not represented.
