Malaysian Anti-Corruption Organisation (Pakar) president Datuk Seri Shamshun Baharin Mohd Jamil said the act should be implemented as soon as possible as the anti-hopping act has been enforced.

"Both sides of the party, whether the government or the opposition, need to accept to ensure transparency.

"We are not restricting individuals or companies from donating to any political party, but with this act, it becomes more transparent, and any party is responsible for receiving donations or contributions," he said.

He said this during Wacana Sinar titled "Dana Politik: Derma dan Rasuah," broadcast live on all Sinar Harian digital platforms tonight.

The other panelists were lawyers Datuk Seri Dr Jahaberdeen Mohamed Yunoos and AMK legal and bureau head, Asheeq Ali, and Ismail Adnan as the moderator.

Meanwhile, Shamshun further said any political party needs donations or funds to carry out campaigns and operations.

He also said that it is important to distinguish whether the donation received is related to approving government projects .
