An oil tanker with 24 Indian seafarers on board has caught fire in the Gulf, India's Shipping Ministry and media reports said on Monday.
All Indian crew members were safe following the fire on the MT Marivex, according to the ministry.
No details were given on the cause of the fire, possible damage or whether the ship could have been the target of an attack.
According to the ship tracking service MarineTraffic, the 134.85-metre-long tanker was located near the coast of Oman in the Gulf. It was sailing under the flag of Palau, it said.
The tanker was near the Strait of Hormuz, which is important for global trade and is effectively blocked by Iran as a consequence of the conflict between Iran and the US and Israel.
The tanker was not carrying any cargo at the time of the fire, The Indian Express and other Indian media reported, citing the ministry.
