Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant sidelined with a side strain, replaced by Dhruv Jurel for India’s upcoming ODI series against New Zealand.

VADODARA: India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant (pic) has been ruled out of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand due to injury.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed Pant sustained a side strain, diagnosed as an oblique muscle tear, during training.

Pant will be replaced in the squad by Dhruv Jurel for the series, which begins on Sunday in Vadodara.

The 27-year-old was serving as the back-up wicketkeeper to KL Rahul in the ODI setup.

He is not part of India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, to be held in India and Sri Lanka from February 7.

The ODI series against New Zealand will be followed by five T20 internationals.
