A Indonesian man was sentenced to more than a decade inside prison in Sabah after he pleaded guilty to an alternative charge of causing the death of another man, who was also an Indonesian, in 2024.
He made the plea before Judicial Commissioner Steve Ritikos at the Tawau High Court today.
Killed man who raped daughter
Based on the case facts, the accused’s daughter, who was 12 at the time, told her mother that the victim she had been raped by the victim while returning from a social gathering.

After hearing of the news, the accused picked up a parang and went looking for the victim. Upon locating the victim, the accused chased him to a nearby chicken coop and slashed him multiple times, resulting in his death.
Following a medical examination at Tawau Hospital, fresh tears were found on the private parts of the accused’s daughter—a clear sign of rape.
An analysis by the Chemistry Department Malaysia also found the victim’s DNA on the girl’s fingernail clippings, while semen found on her underwear matched that of the victim’s.
On Sept 2, 2024, police arrested the accused at his home and seized the parang used in the attack.

Jail time
The accused was initially charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, but it was later changed to an alternative charge under Section 304(a) of the same law.
Following his guilty plea, the accused was sentenced to 13 years in jail, which will take effect from the date of his arrest on Sept 2, 2024.
He will also be referred to the Immigration Department after he serves his time in prison.
