
TAWAU: Police arrested an Indonesian suspected of being involved in the death of his wife at a workers’ quarters in Felda Umas 6 Plantation, Jalan Kalabakan, on MondayThe man’s 37-year-old Indonesian wife, a plantation worker, was found dead with injuries to her hands, head and neck and was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer at 8.15pm.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Rosdi Mat Jusoh said the victim’s husband was arrested following the incident after allegedly attempting to slit his throat with a sickle, causing injuries to his neck.
“He is currently receiving treatment at Tawau Hospital,” he said.
Rosdi said preliminary investigations found that the incident was believed to have stemmed from marital problems following the couple’s return from a holiday.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
