Indonesian woman found dead at Felda Umas 6 Plantation in Kalabakan, husband arrested after allegedly attempting to slit his throat with a sickle
KALABAKAN: An Indonesian woman was found dead with injuries to her hands, head and neck at workers’ quarters in Felda Umas 6 Plantation, Jalan Kalabakan, here on Monday, with police investigating her husband’s alleged involvement in the case.
Tawau District Police Chief ACP Rosdi Mat Jusoh said the victim, a 37-year-old plantation worker, was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer at 8.15 pm.
“The victim’s husband, a 38-year-old Indonesian national, was arrested following the incident after allegedly attempting to slit his throat with a sickle, causing injuries to his neck. He is currently receiving treatment at Tawau Hospital,” he said in a statement here today.
Rosdi said preliminary investigations found that the incident was believed to have stemmed from marital problems following the couple’s return from a holiday.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
