
RANAU: A female victim who suffered an ankle injury had to be carried down from Mount Kinabalu on Friday.
Head of BBP Ranau Station, PPgB Ridwan Bin Mohd Taib, said the incident happened at a location about 400 meters before Panalaban, at around 10.40am.
“The BBP Ranau Control Room received a report from the Mount Kinabalu Search and Rescue Team (Mosar) saying there was a 33-year-old female climber with a left ankle injury.
“The initial treatment was given by Malim Gunung by wrapping with a bandage. The victim was then brought down to Timpohon Gate using the piggyback technique.
“The victim was sent to the hospital using the Taman-Taman Sabah vehicle to get further treatment. The operation ended at 4.22 pm,” he said.
The case was the fourth in March 2023 and 12th victim of illness or injuries on Kinabalu this year.
