KUALA LUMPUR – A wild elephant known as Sulong, which went viral after roaming the East-West Highway (JRTB) in Kelantan while injured, has now been relocated to Kenyir Lake, Terengganu to undergo treatment.
Perhilitan director-general Datuk Abdul Kadir Abu Hashim said the relocation of the male elephant was carried out on Tuesday.
"Sulong has been moved to Kenyir Lake and its injured leg is being treated by a Perhilitan veterinarian.
"We will share current updates regarding the elephant's condition in the near future, Insya-Allah," he said on Wednesday.
Media previously reported that the elephant was seen roaming along the JRTB in an injured state before heading back into the forest area.
Sulong was subsequently reported to have been spotted again around Gerik, Perak at about 9.30am last Sunday.
This was also shared by several social media users who claimed to have seen the elephant with an injured leg moving towards the Titiwangsa Range.
