The suspended officer was taken into custody following an altercation at Batu Caves during Thaipusam yesterday.

KUALA LUMPUR: A suspended police officer, Inspector Sheila, was taken into custody yesterday following an incident at Batu Caves during Thaipusam celebrations.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said Sheila Sharon Steven Kumar was arrested under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant and was remanded for one day, according to the NST.

The arrest followed a dispute between Sheila and traders near the temple.

He added that the police had obtained a one-day remand under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for actions intended to insult the modesty of an individual, while the investigation continues.

The detention came after a video circulated online showing Inspector Sheila causing a commotion at a temple where she is seen wearing a black shirt and shorts while being handcuffed by two female police officers.
