Lack of polybag cooking oil and eggs has persisted for nearly a year.

PUTRAJAYA - Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minster Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub says there is lack of subsidised eggs and cooking oil in the market.

He said this after a surprise visit to several retail outlets and markets in Putrajaya.

In a statement, Salahuddin said he will meet his officers over the issue on Friday.

"This morning, on my way to the office, I was stopped at a grocery store and a market in Putrajaya.

"There is a lack of supply of grade A, B, and C eggs as well as subsidised cooking oil packaged in 1 kg polybags," he said.

Despite various government actions, the issue of a lack of supply of polybag cooking oil and eggs has persisted for nearly a year.

Last Monday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the Agriculture and Food Security ministry would announce a new price of eggs to reduce the dependence of egg supply by cartels.
