KUALA LUMPUR - The competition to secure the Paya Jaras State Legislative Assembly seat is intense between the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidates.
As of 9pm, the incumbent PH candidate, Mohd Khairuddin Othman received 7,535 votes and is leading with a majority of 56 votes.
His opponent, a prominent academic figure, Datuk Dr Ab Halim Tamuri from PN, has obtained 7,479 votes.
The Independent candidate, Nurhaslinda Basri meanwhile, garnered 80 votes.
As of now, 20 percent of the votes involving 33 channels have been counted.
