The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has unveiled its plan to produce a preliminary report within the next 30 days regarding the investigation into the plane crash that occurred at Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam last Thursday. The Air Accident Investigation Bureau (BSKU) has already embarked on a meticulous technical investigation, adhering to the guidelines outlined in Annex 13 of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO Annex 13) pertaining to Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation.

In a press statement, the MoT has emphasized that the core objective of this thorough investigation is to uncover the root cause of the tragic incident, with the intention of preventing similar occurrences in the future and ultimately safeguarding lives. Notably, the MoT has underscored that the investigation is not intended to assign blame or responsibility for the mishap.

To support the inquiry, the MoT is encouraging members of the public and any concerned parties to contribute relevant visual materials, including videos and photographs, of the incident to the BSKU. These materials can be submitted either through email at bsku@mot.gov.my or by reaching out to the BSKU special line at 03-88921235, managed by Lt Col Juma’in Saadon of TUDM.

The MoT has also extended an appeal to individuals who were present at the scene of the accident and witnessed the crash to get in touch with the BSKU via the provided email or special line, facilitating a more comprehensive understanding of the event.

Additionally, in light of the sensitive nature of the incident, the MoT has earnestly implored the public to refrain from disseminating images and videos featuring the victims of the crash. This respectful stance is deemed crucial to prevent unnecessary confusion and conjecture that could potentially impede the ongoing investigation and inflict distress upon the families and loved ones of the victims.

The tragic incident unfolded when a Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) light business jet, en route from Langkawi to the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, crashed at approximately 2:50 pm. Regrettably, the crash claimed the lives of all six passengers and two crew members on board, as well as a motorcyclist and a motorist on the ground.

The MoT's diligent and impartial approach to this investigation underscores its commitment to uncovering the truth behind the incident, ensuring accountability, and preventing such heartbreaking occurrences in the future.
