After a heated on-field exchange between Chennai Super Kings’ Sanju Samson and Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Heinrich Klaasen during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai, both players have now put their differences aside off the field.

On Wednesday, Samson took to social media and posted a picture of the two embracing and smiling, with the caption, “This is why we love cricket.”

He also shared the image on his Instagram story, adding, “Things happen on the field but lots of love and respect to this gem of a person off it.”

Thereafter, Klaasen reshared the picture on his Instagram story, writing, “Much Love and Respect for you bud. Always love watching you play. Keep doing your thing. We are all good. Looking forward to our next battle.”

Tensions had flared in the 15th over of the second innings when Klaasen, batting on 47 off 25 balls, attempted a big shot off Noor Ahmed’s delivery but was stumped by Samson in a fraction of a second.

While attempting the shot, Klaasen’s back foot was slightly in the air when Samson executed a sharp stumping, showcasing excellent awareness and timing behind the stumps, reminiscent of MS Dhoni.

The dismissal went for a third-umpire review before being declared out, triggering celebrations from the fielding side, with Noor Ahmed seen hugging Samson.

At that moment, Klaasen was seen exchanging words with Samson while walking towards him, with the CSK opener also briefly involved in the heated exchange.
