IPOH, Sept 3 — Police are investigating a viral video showing two children sitting on the roof of a moving multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), Astro Awani eported.

Ipoh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najib Hamzah said police had yet to receive any report regarding the incident.

However, he said police were tracing the owner of the vehicle.

“We will identify [the owner]. If they are indeed children, we will investigate the matter under the Child Act 2001,” he was quoted as saying when contacted.

The video, which went viral on social media yesterday, showed two girls sitting on the roof of a luxury Toyota Alphard MPV.

The children were believed to have climbed out through the vehicle’s sunroof while it was moving along the road.

The incident was believed to have taken place from the Meru exit towards Jalan Jelapang-Simpang Pulai, alongside the North-South Expressway.

The recording, taken by a passing motorist, drew criticism from netizens over the potential danger posed to the children.
