At least nine people were killed and more than two dozen injured after an Iranian missile struck a residential area in Beit Shemesh, central Israel, emergency services said.

Rescue teams worked through the rubble to retrieve bodies, clear debris and extinguish fires caused by the impact.

Burned-out vehicles and damaged apartment buildings were seen at the impact site as emergency crews searched the area.

The strike comes amid escalating hostilities between Iran, Israel and the United States, with further missile launches and airstrikes reported across the region.

Explosions were also heard in Tel Aviv, while Israel signaled continued military operations.
