
- Iraq became the final nation to book their spot at the 2026 World Cup by beating Bolivia 2-1 in Mexico on Tuesday night.
- It was Iraq who took the lead in the 10th minute through Ali Al-Hamadi, but Bolivia equalised seven minutes before half time thanks to Moises Paniagua.
- Iraq scored their winning goal in the 53rd minute when Aymen Hussein found the net, and they managed to hang on for victory.
- The Middle East nation were the last of six play-off winners on Tuesday night, following in the footsteps of Bosnia & Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Turkey, Sweden and DR Congo.
- Iraq now go into Group I at the World Cup alongside France, Senegal and Norway.
