- Temperatures during kickoff for the World Cup 2026 match are expected to be around 90F (32C), and the heat index will be near 103F (39C). There’s also a chance for a shower or thunderstorm.
- Opened in 1987, the open-air stadium, renamed from Hard Rock Stadium for World Cup 2026 games, is located in Miami Gardens and has a capacity of 64,478. It is the home of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins and does not feature air conditioning.
- Miami-Dade County has introduced heat mitigation measures for fans at Miami Stadium, including cooling stations, water trailers, hydration zones and misting areas, but the solutions for players are less robust.
- Three-minute hydration breaks have implemented for all games, but Dr. Jason Kostrna, an assistant professor and graduate kinesiology program leader at Florida International University, said they are a "band-aid solution" if athletes don’t adequately hydrate in the days leading up to a match.
