Is there another heatwave coming? Met Office gives latest predictions

  • The next summer heatwave could sink its teeth into London for 10 consecutive days, starting this weekend.
  • Temperatures are expected to rise again with high pressure from the Azores bringing “warm or very warm conditions” across much of the UK, according to Tony Wisson, Met Office deputy chief forecaster.
  • Meanwhile, BBC Weather suggests highs between 28 and 32C in the capital that will last for 10 days from Saturday onwards.
  • Mr Wisson said: “Although a return to heatwave conditions is looking increasingly likely for some areas, the likelihood of such extreme high temperatures or high levels of humidity as last week is currently low.”
  • A third heatwave could arrive on 7 July, according to forecasting platform WXCharts, with highs of 36C potentially coming to the capital on 8 July.
