Ismail Lasim sworn in as new Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar

KUALA PILAH – Kuala Pilah Umno division chief Datuk Ismail Lasim was sworn in as the new Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan on Sunday.

Ismail, 63, who is the Juasseh state assemblyman, took his oath of office before the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, at Istana Besar Seri Menanti here at 11.20am.

Also present at the swearing-in ceremony were Tunku Ampuan Besar Tuanku Aishah Rohani Tengku Besar Mahmud, Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Tunku Ali Redhauddin Tuanku Muhriz and Tunku Panglima Besar Negeri Sembilan Tunku Zain Al-'Abidin Tuanku Muhriz.

Also in attendance were the Undang of Luak Sungei Ujong and the Undang of Luak Rembau.

Under the previous state administration, Ismail served as the state executive councillor overseeing Education and Human Capital.

Ismail previously served as the Senaling assemblyman from 1999 to 2018 and again from 2023 to 2026. From 2018 to 2023, he served as the Juasseh assemblyman.

In Saturday's state election, Ismail defeated Pakatan Harapan candidate Mohd Aidil Abdullah and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia candidate Mohd Zuhaimi Md Yusof in a three-cornered contest.

Ismail secured 6,907 votes, compared with 2,816 votes for Mohd Aidil and 506 votes for Mohd Zuhaimi.
