Ismail Sabri leaves MACC, expected to return next Monday

FORMER Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob left the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) building at 5.42pm after undergoing six hours of questioning today.

This is the second consecutive day this week that he has been summoned by the MACC in connection with allegations of corruption and money laundering, with him being identified as a suspect.

Ismail Sabri arrived for the first session at 8.45am in a black sedan.

He was allowed a three-hour break for Friday prayers before returning for a second session at 3.30pm.

He is expected to continue providing his statement on Monday (March 17).

On March 1, he was questioned for five hours at the MACC headquarters regarding hundreds of millions of ringgit spent on promotional and publicity expenditures during his administration from 2021 to 2022.

To date, the MACC has seized some RM170 million in cash, held in various international currencies, as well as 16kg of gold bullion worth around RM7 million. These seizures are part of an investigation into alleged corruption and money laundering linked to Ismail Sabri, who has been named a suspect in the probe.

MACC has also frozen 13 bank accounts containing over RM2 million as part of its investigation into Ismail Sabri. – March 14, 2025
