The Israeli military on Saturday said it has struck and destroyed several Hezbollah positions in Lebanon.

An underground facility in the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon, was hit, the military said on X. It said the facility was used by Hezbollah to manufacture weapons to be deployed against Israeli civilians and soldiers.

The military also reported strikes on Hezbollah positions in the southern coastal city of Tyre, which is located some 20 kilometres north of the border with Israel.

Hezbollah fighters used the site to plan and launch attacks on Israeli soldiers, it said.

The military said it had also intercepted a drone on Friday attempting to smuggle eight pistols and ammunition magazines into Israel.

It was not possible to independently verify the claims.

A ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon has been in place since in mid-April. However, cross-border fire between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah has continued, with both sides accusing each other of violations. Fatalities are still reported almost daily in Lebanon.

The Israeli military continues to maintain troops in southern Lebanon, where clashes with Hezbollah persist, while Israel also continues to carry out airstrikes across Lebanon.

Under the original agreement, the Lebanese government - with international support - is to prevent Hezbollah from launching attacks against Israeli targets from Lebanese territory. Israel, in turn, is to refrain from “offensive military operations” in Lebanon, while retaining the right to defend against imminent or ongoing threats.
