Seafood is generally expensive and while they add more taste and flavor to your meal, they also contribute to the spike in your bill. So, how much are you willing to pay for a plate of rice with some dishes and squid?

A customer in Kota Kinabalu in Sabah recently paid RM75 for only a plate of rice, but here are the dishes that he had and what exactly contributed to the price, based on the Facebook post of Hussin TJ Abdullah, which has been shared by multiple Facebook pages, including 1SABAH.

All the customer had was a plate of white rice (RM2) with a handful of bean sprout (RM3), a piece of chicken (RM7), and a piece of sweet squid (RM50), as well as 2 beverages.

“Be careful when you dine in here. They randomly charge you the prices. I don’t think I was the only one who got scammed.”

The customer also reminded others who have never patronised the restaurant to keep things that way.

“Avoid this place if possible. It’ll drain your wallet.”

Netizens, on the other hand, were baffled to see the price charged for the squid alone, which was RM50.

“This beats the price at the Mamak restaurants in Peninsular Malaysia.”

“With that price, you can have a fancy buffet at the hotel, which satisfies you even more.”

“You might as well have a steamboat meal.”

“Buy some squids from the market, and they’ll taste even better.”

Another netizen humorously (and sarcastically) explained the expensive price of the seafood.
