Last week, a badminton sporting brand, Victor, issued an apology after the jersey they sponsored for Malaysian shuttler, Lee Zii Jia, appeared to have an upside-down Malaysian flag.

Following this, Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh shared that a code for athlete’s clothing will be drafted to prevent such incidents from happening again.

Now, it is believed that Yeoh does not want to prolong the issue.

According to a report by Berita Harian, she announced that she has received an apology from the badminton sporting brand, Victor, and it is considered sufficient for her.

“Team LZJ is waiting for a date to see me because I want to meet them for the RTG (Road to Gold) programme but this will happen in January. At this time, an apology has been issued and I know that Zii Jia had no intention of embarrassing the country like that. That is why I said the apology is accepted,”

“That’s why we want managers and all athletes to take this matter seriously so that it doesn’t happen again. As far as I know, the apology came from Victor and I haven’t checked whether there is (an apology from Zii Jia) but for me, it’s enough at this time,” she said.

So far, Zii Jia and his team have yet to issue a statement or apology regarding this issue.

However, a netizen has pointed out that Zii Jia might not have known about the upside-down Jalur Gemilang on his jersey. Here’s why.
