PUTRAJAYA - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasised that the cooperation agreement is for good governance as well as stabilising the economy.

He said the agreement that has been signed by all coalition parties in the Unity Government was not intended to defend positions or provide rewards.

"This is a very interesting and meaningful development in the political history of the country where we reached understanding and consensus with a clear direction.

"This cannot be achieved without the cooperation of the party leaders from not only the peninsula but also Sabah and Sarawak.

"With the acknowledgment that is more based on the commitment to principles and policies, I would like to clarify that, in the agreed memorandum, this is not a matter of position or reward.

"But the principles and policies that are stated are good governance, and it's also a question of driving a fresh and convincing economic organisation," he said.

He said this at a press conference after the Inter-Coalition Agreement Signing Ceremony under the Unity Government, at Perdana Putra building, here on Friday.
