Kota Kinabalu: An Italian man was fined RM500 or three months’ jail for violating the conditions of his social visit pass by working as a trainer.
Sessions Court Judge Hurman Hussain imposed the sentence on Antonio Battistessa, 45, who pleaded guilty to the charge.
Battistessa, who holds an Italian passport, committed the offence at a martial arts and fitness centre in Penampang on July 28.
The offence under Rule 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963 carries up to six months’ jail or a fine of up to RM1,000, or both, upon conviction.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nursyuhada Tuan Mamat appeared for the prosecution.
