MANILA, Philippines — The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will continue to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan, the Visayas and parts of Mindanao, while the trough of former typhoon Rosal will affect parts of extreme northern Luzon, the state weather bureau said Saturday.
In its 5 p.m. weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Rosal had exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility and the Tropical Cyclone Information Domain.
"We are still expecting generally fair weather for Metro Manila and most of the country in the coming days," Pagasa weather specialist Daniel James E. Villamil said in Filipino and English.
For Sunday, scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected in parts of the Bicol Region, particularly Sorsogon and Masbate, as well as across Palawan and the Visayas and parts of Mindanao.
Villamil said the ITCZ’s effects were expected to decrease in the coming days. “Starting Monday, inaasahan natin yung muling pagbalik ng easterlies dito sa bahagi ng southern Luzon, Visayas, at sa Mindanao,” he said.
Pagasa said no gale warning was in effect as of 5 p.m. Saturday after it issued its final gale warning for the seaboard of extreme northern Luzon. However, moderate to rough seas are still expected along the country's northern and eastern seaboards.
