Norway have restored their two most-important players to their starting line-up today, with Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard likely to be needed against a dangerous Ivory Coast team.
The sides will clash in the World Cup round of 32, with a tough last-16 tie against Brazil on the line, but neither nation can afford to look past the other in Dallas.
Norway, playing at their first finals since 1998, escaped their group by thrashing Iraq and winning a thriller with Senegal. Their final group game was a 4-1 loss to favourites France, but with coach Stale Solbakken making 10 changes, there was little shame in that.
Those changes included resting Haaland and Odegaard, who have been named as starters here, against an Ivory Coast side who saw off Ecuador and Curacao and were only beaten by Germany in the final moments.

History will be made
17:48 , Mike JonesNorway have reached the knockout stages twice before - in 1938 and 1998 - but lost to Italy both times in the old last-16.
This is Ivory Coast's first time out of the group so they have already made history in this campaign but how far can they go?
Whichever team wins tonight it’ll be their first knockout round victory at the World Cup.

Brazil awaits
17:36 , Mike JonesBrazil’s incredible last-gasp winner against Japan sent them through to the last-16 on Monday night and they will await the winner of this contest.
Ivory Coast are no slouches so it will not be a surprise to see them go through but the prospect of Haaland vs Vinicius and co. is very enticing.

How Brazil booked spot as last-16 opponents of today’s winners
17:15 , Richard JollySo this was what Brazil hired Carlo Ancelotti to bring. The Italian won the Champions League three times with Real Madrid. Each brought a crucial injury-time goal in either the semi-final or the final; at times more than one.
And so, as Bruno Guimaraes pierced the Japan defence and Gabriel Martinelli angled a 95th-minute shot into the far corner of the net, the manager with the lowest heart rate in football had seen it all before.
Ancelotti can be the king of cool, the man who does not panic. His capacity for calm thinking in pressurised situations nevertheless contributed to a comeback that extends Brazil’s hope of gaining a sixth star on their shirts.

Why Norway’s gamble to rest Haaland and Odegaard can pay off
16:50 , Lawrence OstlereErling Haaland enjoyed a rare rest on Friday as Norway took on France in Boston, but he might not be thanking his manager.
Stale Solbakken’s bold call to change 10 of his starting XI for Norway’s third group game put a pin in Haaland’s Golden Boot race for a few days, and gave a helping hand to one of his rivals as Ousmane Dembele scored a sublime hat-trick in France’s 4-1 win.
Not that Solbakken will lose any sleep over it. “I don’t care at all,” he said this week when asked about Haaland’s pursuit of an individual award and whether that might be jeopardised.
