
Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday attached properties worth more than Rs 2.50 crore belonging to alleged drug peddlers in separate actions carried out across the Union Territory.
The properties were attached in Srinagar, Shopian and Rajouri districts as part of an intensified campaign against narcotics trafficking and the financial networks supporting the illegal trade.
In Srinagar, police attached multiple immovable properties worth nearly Rs 2 crore linked to individuals allegedly involved in narcotics-related activities.
Police Station Bemina attached a property worth around Rs 1.5 crore belonging to accused drug peddler Mudasir Ahmad Pir alias Sahil alias Doge, a resident of Firdous Colony, Srinagar. The action was taken under Section 68F(1) of the NDPS Act after confirmation from the Competent Authority under SAFEMA, Ministry of Finance.
The attached property includes a double-storey residential house along with approximately four marlas of land. Investigations revealed that the property had allegedly been acquired through proceeds generated from narcotics trafficking.
In another case, Srinagar Police attached a residential house and land worth approximately Rs 50 lakh belonging to alleged drug peddler Shafiq Ahmad Khawaja of Dildar Karnah in Kupwara district. The property was attached under Section 68F of the NDPS Act in connection with a case registered at Police Station MR Gunj under Sections 8, 21 and 29 of the Act.
“The attachment proceedings were carried out after following all legal procedures and establishing that the properties were acquired through proceeds of narcotics trafficking. These actions reflect our resolve to dismantle the financial infrastructure of drug trafficking networks,” a police official said.
In Shopian district, police attached an immovable property valued at Rs 22.35 lakh belonging to Ghulam Rasool Dar of Khurampora Trenz, Imamsahib. The 32-marla property was identified as having been acquired through proceeds from the illegal drug trade and was attached in connection with FIR No. 35/2023 registered at Police Station Imamsahib.
The attachment was carried out in the presence of a duly constituted police team, an Executive Magistrate, the lambardar and chowkidar to ensure transparency and compliance with legal procedures.
Meanwhile, Rajouri Police attached movable and immovable properties worth around Rs 33.50 lakh belonging to Munshi Khan of Dhanour village, who is involved in multiple NDPS cases and has also been booked under the PIT-NDPS Act.
The attached assets include a single-storey residential house valued at approximately Rs 30 lakh and an electric auto worth Rs 3.50 lakh. The action was taken under Section 68F of the NDPS Act. Police said the accused is involved in several NDPS cases registered at different police stations in Rajouri district.
