Manchester United have plans to sign EIGHT new players over the next two summer transfer windows.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have had a woeful start to the season and currently sit 15 points behind leaders Liverpool already after just eight matches.

The Telegraph says United are well aware of their need to improve their playing staff and will make a number of signings over the next two summers.

One of those incomings could be brought forward to January too amid growing concern that a challenge for Champions League football could already be on the rocks.

It is claimed the club believe they are "six players short of challenging for major honours" and the overhaul of players will be led by Solskjaer, who still has the full backing of the club.

"Ole is looking at a three-year vision of a squad. It will be an evolution over the coming years," a source said. "We are at base camp now."
