Jack Nicklaus is the man who drove Tiger Woods’ obsession to become the best golfer in the world.
Nicklaus won a record 18 majors throughout his career, three more than Woods managed.
However, Woods did get the better of Nicklaus in the PGA Tour wins department, with 82 to his name, compared to Jack’s 73.
Woods’ future in the game looks bleak after his latest car crash, following his DUI arrest.
The 50-year-old desperately needs to address the issues he has, and the good news is that he is said to be seeking out some professional help.

Woods has so much support from his fellow PGA Tour players, and now the onus is very much on him to put the work in to get better.
Jack Nicklaus has now weighed in on the situation, making a statement on the controversy that is currently surrounding Tiger Woods.
Jack Nicklaus releases statement on Tiger Woods after DUI arrest
Woods and Nicklaus are the two greatest golfers to have ever played the game; there really can be no debate about that.
Nicklaus is obviously very fond of Woods and he has always taken a keen interest in the 15-time major champion’s career.
When speaking to The Palm Beach Post, Nicklaus made a statement on Woods’ current situation.
“Sometimes you get, you know, too far down the line and you just need somebody to help you,“ Nicklaus said.
“I think he probably needs some help. And we all want to help him. We’re all on his side. Obviously I feel bad for Tiger. I like Tiger. I don’t just like him, I like him a lot.

“He’s been taking painkillers for a long time and I don’t know how much pain he’s in because I just don’t know.
“But I don’t think he’d be taking them if he didn’t need them.”
Nicklaus is obviously concerned about Woods, and rightly so.
The 15-time major champion needs people around him who genuinely care right now. Maybe he needs to be told some harsh truths as well.
Tiger Woods statement on his DUI arrest
Woods will be taking an extended break from the limelight in order to focus on getting better both mentally and physically.
He released a statement earlier this week, which read:
“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today.
“I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.
“I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger and more focused place, both personally and professionally.
“I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”
Hopefully Tiger Woods’ latest car crash will be the wake-up call he so desperately needed. And if he really does put in the work needed to beat his demons, he will quite clearly have people like Jack Nicklaus in his corner.
