JAKARTA - Jakarta will hold a public consultation on Sept. 24 over planned land acquisition for the MRT East–West Line’s Thamrin–Kwitang segment.
The Jakarta provincial government’s consultation notice schedules the meeting for 9 a.m. WIB at the Central Jakarta mayor’s office. Rights holders, asset managers or users and people affected by the planned development have been invited to attend.
The planned land requirement covers four urban villages in Central Jakarta. According to Jakarta’s development notice for the Thamrin–Kwitang segment, an estimated 88,287.50 square metres will be needed: 27,242.26 square metres in Gambir, 28,929.37 in Kebon Sirih, 17,350.76 in Senen and 14,765.11 in Kwitang.
Officials had already begun preliminary data collection at locations and buildings potentially affected along Jalan Kramat Kwitang and Jalan Kebon Sirih.
“This initial data collection is being carried out by the land-acquisition preparation team for parties expected to be affected by the development,” Ebron Leonard Sirait of Jakarta’s regional secretariat said in a statement carried by ANTARA.
ANTARA reported that Ebron put the planned segment at about 1.76 kilometres. Jakarta separately estimates that land acquisition could take about 539 working days, assuming no objections arise at each stage, while construction is estimated to take about 72 months after the acquired land is formally handed over.
MRT Jakarta issued an invitation for bids for Contract Package 104 on March 3. The package covers design and construction of the 1.76-kilometre underground Thamrin–Kwitang section, including Thamrin, Kebon Sirih and Kwitang stations. It forms part of the approximately 24.5-kilometre Phase 1 Stage 1 main line from Tomang to Medan Satria.
For affected parties along Thamrin–Kwitang, the immediate next scheduled step is the Sept. 24 consultation before the land-acquisition preparation process advances.
