Kota Kinabalu: Jalan Magandai in Kota Marudu which recently gained social media attention is currently in the construction phase, said State Works Minister Datuk Ir. Shahelmey Yahya.
On Friday, the media reported the plight of folks, especially school children from Kg Tondig who have to wade knee-deep in mud to get to SK Magandai some 40km away, even resting the night at fruit farm huts.
“The contractor has informed that their machinery is at the construction site covering the CH19+000- CH40+000 areas where damage often occurs for the purpose of carrying out maintenance work.
“However, due to the continuous rain, the soil structure has become soft and made construction and maintenance work difficult,” he said in a statement, Saturday.
