Craig Carton believes Jaxson Dart’s viral Donald Trump introduction is exactly the kind of superstar moment that can turn against a young quarterback fast.
The New York Giants quarterback stepped into the national spotlight after introducing Trump at a New York event, and gave the president a formal welcome before the speech.
For Carton, the appearance was understandable on one level, but it also showed a young player moving through celebrity spaces before he has fully earned that protection on the field.

Craig Carton says Jaxson Dart’s introduction looked like superstar treatment
WFAN Sports Radio shared Craig Carton’s warning after Jaxson Dart introduced Donald Trump at a New York event.
Carton said, “I think he said yes to it because it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to introduce a president at an event like that.”
“So I’m not knocking the kid for doing it. But he’s acting like he’s already accomplished something in the NFL,” he added.
Dart appeared at Rockland Community College in Suffern, New York, during an event where Trump endorsed Rep. Mike Lawler, and the Giants quarterback introduced him after hyping the crowd with a “Go Big Blue” chant.
Trump later praised Dart from the stage, calling him a “future Hall of Famer” and complimenting his build, which helped push the clip beyond sports and into a wider political conversation.
Craig Carton warns Jaxson Dart New York Giants hype can disappear quickly
Carton’s concern was that the NFL, especially in New York, does not give young quarterbacks much time to enjoy the spotlight if the results do not follow.
“We all know this, the NFL will humble you in a New York city second if you’re not ready for it,” he continued.
“I’m just a little bit concerned that Jaxson Dart is living the life of a superstar, and he hasn’t quite earned it just yet,” Carton concluded.
Dart was drafted 25th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, took over as the Giants’ starter in Week 4 and went 4-8 while throwing for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions, along with 487 rushing yards and nine rushing scores.
Those numbers gave fans reasons to believe in his upside, but they did not make him untouchable. That is Carton’s broader point.
If Dart wins, the rally appearance becomes just another offseason story. If he struggles early, fans may see it as a sign he enjoyed the celebrity part of being the Giants quarterback before proving he could handle the job itself.
