Just two days after it was opened to the public, the water attraction at the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) City Forest was forced to close temporarily due to cleanliness issues.

MBJB took to its Facebook page to share the news while also showcasing concerning images of what appears to be faeces around the pool area of the water attraction.

The city council wrote, “This water area is a public facility, and it is our shared responsibility to keep it clean. It is a shared right, not a place to pollute.”

“Due to the attitude of a few irresponsible individuals, the cleanliness of this area has been affected, so much so that the pool has been temporarily closed for maintenance works to ensure that the water quality is really clean and safe to use.”

MBJB went on to urge the public to be more responsible and maintain cleanliness at all times.

“Do not be so self-important that it inconveniences thousands of other visitors.”

It was just opened two days ago

On Monday (23 March), the Johor Housing and Local Government Committee chairman, Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor, took to his Facebook page to announce the first day of the water attraction’s opening to the public.

Mohd Jafni shared, “As early as 7 AM until 7 PM, an estimated 4,500 visitors came in and out of the City Forest area to have fun with family and friends. Of this number, approximately 1,200 visitors enjoyed the water facilities, which were just opened to the public.”

“This encouraging attendance clearly shows that attractive public recreational facilities are highly valued by the people, especially as a space for children to play in the water, families to have fun and the community to live a healthy lifestyle,” he wrote.
