If your weekend plans involve sneakers, Sunway Pyramid is the place to be. JD Sports Malaysia is marking its 10th anniversary with JD Frequency, a five-day pop-up running from 22 to 26 July 2026 at the mall’s Orange Concourse, and it is open to everyone.

The celebration is a full-circle moment for the retailer. JD Sports opened its first Malaysian store at Sunway Pyramid back in 2016, and a decade on it runs 23 stores nationwide, with three more due to open by the end of 2026. Malaysia has since become JD Sports’ Southeast Asia hub, overseeing the brand’s operations across Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.

What to expect at JD Frequency

The heart of the pop-up is the Only at JD Product Showcase, which brings together exclusive footwear, apparel and accessories from past, present and upcoming collections. There is a live line-up too, with performances from local and regional artists including SonaOne, Killa Driz, SVRN Porsche and Zamaera.

Beyond the showcase, several brand corners give visitors a reason to stick around and, in some cases, walk away with something extra.

Brand experiences and rewards

  • adidas: Follow or engage with JD Sports’ social channels at the adidas Locker for a chance to win adidas gifts, or get a denim tote bag customised with RM500 worth of adidas purchases.
  • New Balance: Pick up an instant collectible print through JD Sports’ social channels, and customise your footwear at the New Balance Charms Bar with selected models including the 530, 204L or 740.
  • Nike: Grab assorted Nike candies by engaging on social, with lucky winners taking home RM100 JD Gift Cards. Spend RM500 on Nike and you can walk away with a customised Nike x PeakKL T-shirt.
  • Puma: Play the Puma Speedcat Memory Game to win a RM30 JD Gift Card, or pick up a customised Puma Charm with a Speedcat OG or Speedcat Ballet purchase.

Ten years of sneaker culture

JD Sports works with brands including Nike, adidas, New Balance, ON Running, PUMA and ASICS, and part of its pitch has always been access: bringing hard-to-find drops and Only at JD collections, developed with global partners and tailored for Southeast Asian shoppers, closer to home.

The shopping side has changed over the years too. Following a 2025 digital upgrade, JD Sports now offers Ship From Store and Click & Collect, so browsing online and picking up in store finally talk to each other.

“When we first started JD in Malaysia ten years ago, we recognised the demand for streetwear and focused on bringing the world’s leading brands closer to local consumers,” said Andre Loong, CEO of JD Sports Southeast Asia.

The takeaway

Whether you are hunting for an exclusive pair, chasing a gift card or just there for the music, JD Frequency is a low-commitment way to spend an afternoon this week. The pop-up runs daily until 26 July at Sunway Pyramid’s Orange Concourse.
