TAMPARULI: Tamparuli Division Head of Parti Solidariti Tanahairku (Star), Ts Jinitoh Sontori, has hailed the decision by party President Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey G. Kitingan to leave Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) as a brave and justified move to protect Sabah’s rights and dignity.
He said Dr Jeffrey’s action sends a clear message that Sabah’s political struggle must no longer be dictated by Malayan-based parties seeking to retain control over the state.
“Pakatan Harapan is playing both sides — working with GRS and at the same time aligning with Barisan Nasional Sabah. Everyone knows Sabah Umno has long been GRS’s main opponent,” he said in a statement.
Jinitoh also warned Sabahans to be alert to the underhanded tactics being used to undermine local leaders.
“Corruption allegations, political pressure, personal attacks — these are not coincidences. These are calculated moves to keep Sabah under the thumb of outsiders,” he added.
He urged Sabahans to reject Peninsula-based parties and unite behind local leadership.
“Let us reject Malayan parties that come with sweet promises but hidden agendas. Our mission is clear: Sabah for Sabahans. Now is the time to stand firm for our future,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, Wiramuda Tamparuli Head Jess Joel Moriga echoed the division’s strong support for Dr Jeffrey, particularly among the youth.
He said smear tactics often resurface during elections, but young voters today are more politically aware.
“Every election season, the same slanders resurface. But today’s youth are not easily swayed by cheap political games targeting credible leaders,” said Jess.
He added that personal attacks would not weaken their resolve but would instead strengthen party unity and support for Dr Jeffrey.
The statements from both leaders reflect a firm commitment from Star Tamparuli to stand by their president in the face of mounting political pressure.
