KOTA KINABALU: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) President Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan has vowed to “reset” the party’s direction and reignite the “Sabah for Sabahan” and “Justice for Sabah” movement following the exit of five assemblymen.
Speaking at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport on Tuesday, Jeffrey said STAR would not stop the defectors but let the people decide their fate.
He confirmed STAR’s leadership would meet Wednesday to finalise their status and name replacements, stressing the party would field “young, loyal fighters” in their place.
He said STAR’s fight would be driven by the people’s sentiment, not alliances, and confirmed the party would contest 73 seats in the coming state election.
Jeffrey also reaffirmed STAR’s partnership with the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) and signalled openness to cooperate with other local parties for unity, citing Sarawak’s example.
“How long will Sabah be ruled and divided? We must make a stand. Enough is enough,” he said emotionally.
