Award-winning actress and recording artist Jennylyn Mercado has ventured into the beauty business with the launch of DLN Skin, her own makeup and skin care brand.
Mercado, who serves as the company’s chief executive officer, formally introduced the brand and its first product, the DLN Intuitone Skin Tint, at an event held June 27 at The Blue Leaf Cosmopolitan in Quezon City.
Built around the theme “Where Structure and Senses Meet Skin,” the launch featured interactive installations designed to introduce the product through sight, scent, sound, touch and taste. Among the guests were Mercado’s celebrity friends, makeup artists, designers, industry partners, members of the media and beauty and lifestyle content creators.
During a panel discussion, Mercado spoke about her longtime interest in makeup and skin care and the three-year process of developing her own brand.
“It really started out as a need that we turned into an opportunity three years ago,” Mercado recounted. “Makeup and skin care have always been embedded in my daily life as an actress and as a public figure, so there are certain things I am looking for in my makeup or skin care products to best suit my sensitive skin.”
She said she had been looking for a product that was easy to apply and blend and made with ingredients suitable for her sensitive skin.
“That is when the idea of formulating my own brand came about,” she shared. “It took us three years to get here, so I am just very proud of how far we have come and, of course, excited to share with everyone the DLN Intuitone Skin Tint. I hope they will enjoy it as much as I do.”
Available in light, medium and dark, the DLN Intuitone Skin Tint uses what the brand calls its proprietary Intuitone technology, designed to adapt to the wearer’s skin tone and create a natural, skin-like finish. The product may be worn on its own or used as a makeup base.
According to DLN Skin, its formula contains MC-PDRN, an ingredient intended to support skin repair and collagen production. It also includes niacinamide to help smooth and even out the complexion; hyaluronic acid for hydration; witch hazel leaf water to help minimize the appearance of pores; Vagestop to support the skin barrier; Mimiskin to nourish and protect the skin; and SPF 50 for sun protection.
“We wanted to simplify beauty through science-backed innovation,” Mercado said.
Despite its skin care ingredients, Mercado clarified that the tint is not intended to replace a complete morning and evening skin care regimen.
“It is a skin tint first and foremost, and you can either use it as a makeup base, a daily sunscreen option, or it can be just a quick fix before you leave the house so that you look and feel confident.”
