KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the RM4.2 billion Jesselton Docklands project will transform Kota Kinabalu’s old port into a modern waterfront hub.

In a speech delivered by State Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, Hajiji stated that the 35-acre redevelopment would create jobs, attract investors, and stimulate growth across various sectors, including construction, retail, food, and tourism.

The project, led by Suria Capital Holdings Berhad through Sabah Ports and in partnership with Bedi Development, will include an international cruise terminal, hotels, residences, cultural precincts, and commercial zones.

Hajiji said the initiative was in line with the Sabah Maju Jaya plan and praised Suria for reshaping the city’s identity since container operations moved to Sapangar Bay in 2007.

He also commended Suria and Bedi Development for contributing RM100,000 each towards flood and disaster relief, underscoring the role of public-private partnerships in driving sustainable growth.
