SIX shops, including a jewellery shop, were destroyed in a fire near a petrol station on Jalan Besar Tanjong Karang in Kuala Selangor last night.
The incident at around 11.27 pm caused almost the entire single-storey shop building to be gutted.
Selangor Fire Department Assistant Director of Operations, Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, said that 16 personnel, including officers from four Fire and Rescue Stations (BBP), rushed to the location.
According to him, the operation involved personnel from BBP Tanjong Karang, Kuala Selangor, Sekinchan and North Klang with the assistance of five vehicles, including the Emergency Medical Services (EMRS) Unit
“The operation commander reported a fire involving six shops with an estimated 90 per cent destruction.
“The premises destroyed include a pharmacy, telecommunications equipment, jewellery and a mini market,” he said today.
He said no victims were reported to be involved in the incident, and the cause of the fire and the amount of damage were still under investigation. – June 3, 2026
