Jon Rahm is among the LIV Golf players seeking major championship success this week at the PGA Championship.

Rahm is joined by 10 other LIV Golf players at Aronimink Golf Club, including his fellow captains Bryson DeChambeau, Cam Smith and Joaquin Niemann among others.

They are competing at the second major tournament of the 2026 season at a significant moment for LIV Golf, which is set to lose its funding at the end of the year.

Niemann was among the early starters at the PGA Championship, with the Chilean sharing insight into LIV Golf individual leader Rahm after his one-under 69 on Friday.

Joaquin Niemann really enjoys being around Jon Rahm on LIV Golf

When asked if he has talked to the two-time major champion about staying patient at such events, and if he has sought his advice in general, Niemann said: “I mean, just being around him, I think, is always nice.

“He won a few already. He won The Masters and US Open. Obviously he’s been playing unbelievable golf on LIV.

“I’ve had the pleasure to go head-to-head with him the past two years. It’s been great. I’ve learned a lot from him. He’s a great player, great attitude.

“Obviously patience, I think, is probably up there in the words you’ve got to keep in your mind playing this game.”

Rahm also finished his opening round of the PGA Championship on one-under, while DeChambeau really struggled with a six-over 76.

Joaquin Niemann responds when asked if Jon Rahm is frustrated by major drought

Rahm is chasing his third career major championship win at Aronimink, having won the US Open in 2021 and The Masters in 2023.

However, both of those impressive victories arrived before he left the PGA Tour for LIV Golf at the very end of 2023.

Asked if he senses that Rahm is frustrated by a lack of major success since moving to LIV, Niemann said: “I don’t think we ever talk about it, no.

“He doesn’t seem, though. I don’t know.”

Rahm has, of course, enjoyed stunning success on LIV Golf since his move, winning the individual title in each of his first two seasons.

And he’s now looking likely of making it three in a row this year, leading the standings after seven of 13 events.
