An unemployed man was charged with the murder of his 19-year-old girlfriend, M Elisa Jonova, at a room they rented inside a house in Kuantan last Tuesday (Oct 6).
The accused, F. Alan Stevekumar, was brought to the Kuantan magistrate’s court today and had the charge read out to him by a translator before magistrate Tuan Ruzuaini Tuan Lah.
With a calm look on his face, Alan merely nodded and said “faham” (understand) to the charge.

He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment for up to 40 years upon conviction.
He was unrepresented in court while Pahang Director of Prosecutions Mohd Sabri Othman prosecuted. No plea was recorded as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
Sabri told the court that a new mention date was needed to allow the prosecution to review the post-mortem and toxicology reports.
Nov 12 was then set for mention.
Details of case
Alan, a Perak native, was accused of killing Elisa, a Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Polytechnic (POLISAS) student, between 4.32am and 4.55am at Jalan Air Putih 2, Taman Pauline in Kuantan.

A forensic specialist from Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) later found signs of pressure on the Elisa’s neck before she was pronounced dead.
A vendor told the press that housemates had heard the couple having a fierce argument in their room and went to check on them. When Alan opened the door, he told them he had killed Elisa “by accident”.
Following Alan’s confession, the housemates quickly abandoned the property in terror, leaving the house completely unoccupied.
